Applications Engineering Manager
We are seeking an Applications Engineering Manager who is passionate about problem-solving and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on team environment. This role involves driving changes that align with strategic plans and managing the application needs of key customer accounts. The position is a balance of tactical problem-solving to ensure product functionality and strategic planning to integrate new technologies for customer success.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers both pre-sale and post-sale.
- Lead, track, and maintain data for Policy Deployment Targets and Key Performance Indicators through continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Drive changes through process improvement and develop tools to support business growth.
- Set standard work procedures and establish support structures interfacing with other business functions across North America.
- Assist North America Production, Quality, and Engineering teams in defining quality issues and testing new products as per customer requirements.
- Schedule field service visits for troubleshooting, commissioning, and training purposes.
- Manage the budget for the Applications and Systems Engineering team.
- Travel up to 40% to customer sites.

- Experience with engineering documents such as schematics, component data sheets, PCB layouts, and product specifications.

- Understanding of motion control theory and various fieldbus protocols.
- Experience with multi-meters, oscilloscopes, schematics, and wiring practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Process development and improvement.
- Mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Experience with Kaizen, Solidworks, Creo, and project management.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field required; Master's preferred.
- 10+ years of industrial experience in Industrial Automation.
- Minimum 5 years in application, systems, or design engineering with significant customer interaction.
Work Environment:
This position operates within a large manufacturing operation that runs 24/5. Employees may be required to work more than 40 hours a week. The campus includes four plants with 600-700 employees, focusing on process automation and new product launches. The role involves working in both manufacturing and office settings, designing production equipment and tooling. Job Type & Location:
This is a Permanent position based out of Radford, VA.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00/yr. Great 401k and opportunity to grow.
