Sensor Development Engineer
We are seeking an engineer with a strong experience in algorithm development and data science to drive results in the sensor development industry. This role involves technical ownership of algorithm and data products, as well as developing and executing roadmaps for continued innovations in machine learning. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing machine learning models on embedded/edge and cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop algorithmic approaches to detect and identify events through multi-sensor fusion, focusing on chemical and gas detection.
- Research and implement appropriate algorithms and tools, including machine learning, deep learning, and deterministic approaches.
- Develop machine learning applications according to customer and product requirements.
- Improve internal tools to process data and analyze algorithm results.
- Enhance processes for data collection, labeling, and data pipelines.
- Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results.
- Stay updated with developments in the field.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.
- Develop roadmaps for algorithm advancements and data applications.
Essential Skills
- Experience with algorithm development using time series data sets.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems and sensors.
- Proficiency in cloud and data architecture, particularly in building machine learning models and workflows for cloud tasks.
- Expertise in AWS or similar cloud environments.
- Proficient in embedded C, Python, PyTorch, and microcontrollers.
- Experience in building APIs and data analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or related technical degree with 5-10 years of experience. Advanced degrees such as MS or PhD are a plus.
- Experience with chemical, gas, or similar sensors is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with standard machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Pytorch, and sci-kit-learn.
- Ability to code in Python and lower-level C/C++ languages.
- Experience with AWS services like RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation, IoT, ECS, SageMaker.
- Understanding of AI and LLM basic principles is optional but beneficial.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $54.00 - $75.00/hr.
