Aerospace Engineer

We are a leader in autonomous drone systems, delivering cutting-edge sUAS solutions for defense, government, and commercial sectors. We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Engineer with a strong background in Electromechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. This role involves sUAS development experience with software, hardware, and embedded systems to join our growing sUAS development team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about building next-generation drone platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate sUAS systems across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
  • Lead development and testing of flight control systems using PX4 and MAVLink protocols.
  • Configure and optimize CUBE autopilot hardware and Ubuntu-based development environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support DOD, government, and commercial UAS programs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience developing sUAS design and development for manufacturing of a product.
  • Proficiency with MAVLink communication protocol, PX4 flight stack, CUBE autopilot hardware, and Ubuntu/Linux development environments.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals (e.g., wiring, power systems, sensors).
  • Experience with drone operations, flight testing, and mission planning.
  • Must be a US Citizen - Active Clearance Preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DOD or government UAS programs is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Solidworks, Mechanical design, FAA certification, ArduPilot, MAVSDK, Pixhawk 6X, CUAV V5, and other hardware/software.
  • Understanding of drone motors, Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), propellers, and controllers.
  • Experience in moving data between drone, to embedded servers, edge processing, and cloud.
  • Knowledge of CANBUS and other sUAS interfaces.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site at our headquarters in Sparks, MD (Baltimore County). The work environment includes an office setting with testing and flight control centers onsite, providing the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, Maryland.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $57.00/hr.
