Service Designer

As a service designer you'd be responsible for crafting the complete end-to-end experience of a service. Your role would be to optimise and enhance services to ensure they not only meet the needs of users but also align with the broader goals of the business. Service designers possess deep knowledge of design principles and systems, with a strong focus on both digital and offline channels. You would work collaboratively with various teams to ensure everyone is aligned and working toward a common vision. By identifying pain points and opportunities, you'd define and refine services to ensure a seamless and effective experience for the user.

Service designers are expected to:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify user needs.
  • Support User Researchers in gathering insights from users to inform design decisions.
  • Champion user-centred design practices and effectively communicate the value of design - emphasising inclusivity, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.
  • Create service blueprints and user journey maps to visualise the end-to-end experience and solve complex problems.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and delivery teams to maintain alignment, encourage engagement, and gather insights.
  • Ensure adherence to the client's design standards, systems, and best practices.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including Interaction Designers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Developers, and Performance Analysts.
  • Confidently present work and rationale to both internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Use evidence and data to iterate on designs, form hypotheses, and validate them through testing.

Essential Skills and Experience You Should Have:

  • Relevant experience as a Service Designer or similar field.
  • Working with the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principals.
  • Experience advocating for User-Centred Design.
  • Experience negotiating with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Working with Design systems/libraries, style guides and existing patterns/guidelines.

It would be desirable, though not essential if you had experience:

  • Working in an Agile or similar multidisciplinary environment.
  • Using HTML, Markdown, Nunjucks or other prototyping languages.
  • Strong accessibility knowledge.
  • Leading a team or mentoring junior designers.

What's in it for you:

At Accenture in addition to a competitive basic salary, you will also have an extensive benefits package which includes 25 days' vacation per year, private medical insurance and 3 extra days leave per year for charitable work of your choice!

Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there may be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the first-class services we are known for.
