We are seeking a detail-oriented Power BI Developer with experience in Utilities and Engineering Services (EPC/Infrastructure/Consulting) to design and deliver BI solutions that transform complex engineering and operational data into actionable insights. The role involves working closely with engineering, project management, and operations teams to support data-driven decision-making across utility projects and assets.
What are we looking for?
• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer in Utilities, Engineering Services, EPC, or Infrastructure domains.
• Strong expertise in: DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) Power Query / M Language Data modeling (including project and time-series data)
• Proficiency in SQL for handling large and complex datasets.
• Experience working with project controls data (cost, schedule, resources).
• Familiarity with utility operations (generation, transmission, distribution).
• Experience integrating Power BI with engineering and enterprise systems (SAP, Primavera, SCADA, IoT platforms).
• Strong understanding of KPIs in engineering projects and utility operations.
• Experience with Power BI Service (sharing, governance, deployment).
• Ability to translate engineering and business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, IoT Hub, Stream Analytics).
• Exposure to Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow and reporting automation.
• Knowledge of EPC project lifecycle, cost control, and earned value management (EVM).
• Understanding of data governance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance in utilities.
• Familiarity with GIS and spatial data visualization.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related), Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Analytics.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop, publish, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI for utility and engineering project performance.
• Build robust data models using DAX and Power Query (M language) for engineering, project, and operational datasets.
• Integrate Power BI with multiple data sources such as: SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, Azure, and APIs.
• Design dashboards and reports for: project progress, cost, and schedule tracking (EPC lifecycle), energy generation, transmission, and distribution metrics, asset performance, maintenance, and lifecycle management, outage analysis and reliability indices.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, and project teams to define KPIs and reporting needs.
• Optimize reports for performance, scalability, and usability across large infrastructure projects.
• Manage Power BI Workspaces, datasets, gateways, and deployment pipelines.
• Implement row-level security (RLS) to control access across projects, regions, clients, and departments.
• Automate data refreshes and ensures high data quality for mission-critical engineering reports.
• Support data cleansing, transformation, and validation across multi-source engineering data.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, project governance, and client reporting requirements.
