Job Description
We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Lead Network Engineer. This position will play a role in the analysis, design, and standards development for the implementation efforts targeted to deliver a highly available enterprise network. The individual in this position is responsible for the implementation, security, and operational support of the ABC Network infrastructure for our corporate offices, data centers, and public cloud presences such as AWS/Azure. This position will also be responsible for the creation and upkeep of documentation to include strict adherence to our change control processes.
What You'll Do
- Manage the enterprise network and security infrastructure in conjunction with ABC's Information Security team. Must ensure deployed solutions follow industry and vendor best practices and standards across the entire organization.
- Implement and manage cloud (AWS/Azure) networking solutions such as TGW, VPC's, Direct Connect, and Local/Global Load Balancing as well as on-premises network solutions including Cisco and Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls with Intrusion Prevention, Cisco ISE, Cisco Umbrella, switches, routers, security appliances, wireless access points, and remote access/Site-to-Site VPNs.
- Assist DevOps team with the deployment of network configurations through Infrastructure as Code methodologies (Terraform/Ansible).
- Manage corporate office networks, wireless access points, security cameras, and SD-WAN using Cisco Meraki.
- Monitor the network infrastructure and ensure that ABC delivers an 'Always On IT Service' to our customers.
- Troubleshoot the entire TCP/IP stack and overall management of networking routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. Perform packet captures and other analysis methods and for troubleshooting issues.
- Participate in standards/compliance audit processes to help ensures that ABC is compliant with all applicable laws and industry regulations as well as overall best practices.
- Assist in the implementation of ABC's comprehensive Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs.
- Deploy and manage network/security management, monitoring, and logging tools.
- Create and maintain up-to-date network/ support documentation and diagrams.
- Adhere to ABC Incident/Change/Problem management policies and associated systems.
- Work within the physical data center environments for racking, stacking, cabling, and decommissioning hardware.
- Use effective critical thinking skills that will allow ABC to quickly recover from downtime and be able to solve issues and provide root cause analyses.
- Work closely with other departments/organizations to analyze requirements, solve problems, and collaborate on projects.
- Work in a highly effective and team centric environment and must be able to lead a project or process when needed with little to no supervision.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
What You'll Need
- 7+ years of deploying, managing, and troubleshooting firewalls, load balancers, switches, routers, and other networking solutions for on-premises and cloud-based enterprise networks.
- 5+ years of working in a physical data center environment.
- 5+ years of managing DNS and load balancing (F5) infrastructure.
- 3+ years of AWS/Azure cloud networking experience.
- 3+ years of experience with PCI-DSS.
- 3+ years of experience with Cisco hardware
- 3+ years of experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Preferred Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, PCNSA/PCNSE, AWS or Azure Cloud Foundational.
Bonus Skills
- Basic Windows and Linux system administration capabilities
- Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Basic understanding of container systems (Kubernetes)
- Experience with ticketing systems (Jira)
- Experience with monitoring solutions (Solarwinds, ThousandEyes, AppDynamics)
- Advanced scripting and automation abilities (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, Powershell, CloudCLI)
- Understanding of virtual routing and forwarding (VRF)
- Understanding of AAA security protocols including TACACS, Radius, and OAuth
- Experience with Megaport
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences
- Ability to collaborate with others in team environment
- Ability to multi-task and change direction quickly
- Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to make sound decisions
