Senior Automation Engineer

The Automation Engineer that we are looking for works in the Engineering department and has a focus on industrial automation of the production facilities. You will manage the process control systems according to the guidelines, procedures and standards. In addition, you will contribute to the optimization (quality/quantity) of production and participate in improvement programs with respect to the business priorities such as safety, reliability and cost.

The main focus areas are:

Disturbances

• Main objective is a continuous production process
• Help others in solving complex disturbances
• Identify and analyze recurring problems and propose possible solutions
• In consultation with involved engineers and technologists, implement (temporary) solutions

Process optimization

• Proactively analyze and identify trends and structural bottlenecks in the field of process automation
• In consultation with involved engineers and technologists propose and implement improvement suggestions
• Risk analysis: impact of change to guarantee quality product/process

Projects

• Team member of multi-disciplinary teams that initiate, prepare, install and validate projects
• Think along in technical proposals and come together to a proposal
• Determine if the automation of the project can be carried out by automation itself or is outsourced based on available resources, complexity or budget
• Ensure that projects are carried out according to Abbott standards

Standards

• Compliance, translation and implementation of standards, guidelines and procedures relevant to process automation
• Drafting and managing (new) standards, guidelines, procedures and documentation

Maintenance

• Planning and implementing maintenance with respect to process control systems
• Advising on correct stock levels of technical components
• Via Life Cycle Management timely initiate replacement proposals for systems and applications

What are we looking for?

• Minimum MBO level, preferably in the direction of Electro or Industrial Automation possibly supplemented with another relevant education/course.
• Preferably 2 to 5 years of experience in a production environment in the Pharmaceutical or Food and/or Dairy industry.
• Preferably knowledge of food, dairy or pharmaceutical production processes and related control systems.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens) and SCADA (iFix).
• Conceptual knowledge of S88 (iBatch), high-level programming, networking, virtualization (VMware), databases and Microsoft applications.
• Several years of experience in carrying out (technical) projects.
• Experience in drawing up multi-year plans.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch (this is a hard requirement).
