This position reports to: Mechanical Design Team Lead, Europe

We are now looking for a new R&D Senior Engineer, Mechanical to join our team at ABB Oy, IEC LV Motors in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, you will be responsible for executing mechanical design activities for Low Voltage Electrical Motors.

As an expert, you will take proactive ownership of the tasks given to you and your team and communicate the results. This will include actively collaborating with stakeholders such as project managers, project team members, global R&D teams, and other internal partners.

We offer you a challenging role in the global R&D organization, where you have good opportunities to grow as a specialist by working for one of the leading Low Voltage Motor manufacturers. The work model for this role is: #Li-Hybrid, with 2 days a week at the office and other days based on your own preference and scheduling. Our office is located in Vaasa.

You will mainly be responsible for:

• Working in global product development projects, from the concept stage through to finished products
• Maintaining and keeping the products up to date during the product lifecycle
• Technical documentation, design, and testing according to project requirements
• Ensuring cost-effective design in accordance with project specifications, related standards, and safety regulations
• Collaborating actively with Project Managers, Project Team Members, Global R&D Teams, other functions, and stakeholders in the organization
• Taking ownership of tasks given to you and your team and communicating the results
• Acting as a mentor by training junior team members and compiling project lessons learned

Qualifications for the Role

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. level degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Solid previous experience in electrical motor design
• Interest towards working with product development projects
• Self-driven way of working with good teamwork and communication skills
• Analytical and logical mindset
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken with Finnish skills seen as an advantage
• Several years of experience in mechanical design tools such as NX and Teamcenter
• Experience of Creo and PTC Windchill PLM/PDM are considered as a benefit
