Your Role And Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented Principal Control Software Engineer to join our team at ABB, High Power division's R&D organization in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki.

You will be working as control software chief designer for a key R&D project. In this role, you will have the opportunity to initiate and drive technology and software development in converter control for new products and state-of-the-art semiconductors.

Within the first six months, we expect you to create and update the projects build plan and implement critical technology demonstrators together with the team. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting strategic corporate technology management and future solution architecture. The work model for the role is: hybrid #Li-hybrid

This role is contributing to the Motion High Power in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland. Main stakeholders are project chief designer, control architect and the team of control SW experts. You will be mainly accountable for:

• Evaluating and productizing control SW concept with the team of experts
• Analyzing the impact of selected concepts together with other design disciplines
• Planning and leading the control SW efforts in an R&D project
• Creating and updating the build plan for control SW
• Monitoring the progress, and detecting and mitigating risks
• Actively communicating with the project team and other stakeholders

Qualifications For The Role

• It is essential that you are highly skilled in the control of power electronic converters, and you enjoy working with project management methodologies
• It is relevant that you have deep understanding of control theory, including theoretical analysis (discrete- and continuous-time systems)
• You have demonstrated expertise in converter control architecture design
• It is relevant that you have several years of experience in creating and implementing control SW in C++ and/or concepts for real-time embedded systems.
• You hold at least M.Sc. degree in control theory, electrical engineering, automation or other relevant area
• You are comfortable with working in the SW team and using simulation tools (eg Simulink)
• You are at ease communicating in English
• You hold a valid work permit in Finland
