This position reports to:

Research Team Manager - Sensor Solutions

Key responsibilities:

The work model for the role is hybrid.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Investigate state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction techniques applicable to industrial environments.
• Develop and test methods and workflows that support ABB teams in executing tasks faster and more sustainably.
• Contribute to extending the operational life and efficiency of industrial equipment, while reducing waste and emissions.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to integrate 3D scanning and reconstruction into ABB's digital service offerings.
• The minimum duration of the internship is 3 months.
• A subsequent Master’s thesis can be arranged depending on interest and suitability. Please indicate in your cover letter in which months and for which duration you would be available for the internship.

Qualifications for the role:

• Master’s student in a technical or engineering program (e.g. Computer Vision, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering or related fields).
• Experience with 3D scanning technologies, photogrammetry and/or LiDAR. Please describe your expertise and personal contributions to industrial or academic results in this area in your cover letter.
• Programming skills in Python or C++, experience with GPU- or NPU-accelerated programming is a plus.
• Proficiency in English or German, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in sustainability, industrial innovation, and digital transformation.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset.
• You are motivated, friendly, and capable of working independently.
• You demonstrate team spirit, openness, and initiative.
