This position reports to:

Senior Scientist

At Corporate Technology Center in Kraków we create innovative solutions, implemented in ABB products and systems. It is a unique opportunity for you to join interdisciplinary scientific teams and international projects where expertise, curiosity and innovation are valued.

Your task will be to support the development of ABB's medium voltage drives by validating and developing FPGA firmware and embedded controllers. You will work closely with FPGA and embedded software developers to create software packages powering real-life applications, ensuring their reliability and performance.

Tasks:

• Verification of FPGA components - development of VHDL testbenches, test scenarios
• Simulations and investigations of FPGA designs
• Supporting development of FPGA firmware for medium voltage drive controllers
• Building and maintenance of hardware test stands

Requirements:

• Student of 3rd or 4th year in engineering studies (automatics, computer science, electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering or similar)
• Basic knowledge and understanding of FPGAs and how to develop and verify firmware
• Knowledge of VHDL
• Minimum availability 20h/week
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Good written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Practical experience with software development processes and tools (Git, VS Code, Azure DevOps)
• Knowledge of Python
• Knowledge of PLCs and industrial communication protocols
• Knowledge of electronics, electrical engineering
• SEP certificate up to 1 kV
