Your role and responsibilities

To expand our Onsite Expert Services team, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to act as interface between our customers and ABB with the exciting task of performing worldwide commissioning and troubleshooting of large ABB MV Drives.

Reporting to the Head of Expert Services team, you will be part of the Business Line for MV drives in Untersiggenthal, Switzerland. You will be working in close collaboration with production, engineering, management, R&D, quality team, project, and support teams. In your role, you will ensure a smooth delivery of services at our customer locations worldwide and provide feedback to the back office for continuous improvement of ABB's products and processes.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Perform commissioning and troubleshooting in large drive applications up to 60 MW in different industries: e.g. wind, marine propulsion, power plant, oil & gas, water storage, metal applications
• Technical lead of installation and commissioning team at customer sites to ensure a smooth commissioning for modernization projects and new applications
• Close collaboration with the project engineering team during the design phase of modernization projects and new applications
• Provide remote support and guidance to regional service engineers
• Collect firsthand customer experience with our drives and control upgrades and transfer them into improvements to ensure further development of our product portfolio together with Engineer, R&D, Quality Team and Production
• Provide guidance and support to customers in identifying suitable service solutions based on established processes, procedures, and safety standards.
• Assume international travelling of approx. 50–70%, duration of each assignment generally up to 4 weeks.

Qualifications for the role

• Master or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related fields with a focus on power electronics
• Basic knowledge about electrical machines: transformer, drives and motors are a must
• Fluent in English, German language is beneficial, any other language an asset
• Collaborative individual with effective communication skills and intercultural sensitivity
• High flexibility and willingness to work independently around the globe
• Customer and solution oriented with the ability to approach technical challenges in a structured manner
• Ability to translate customer needs into continuous improvements and drive them until completion
