Associate - Financials Team

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data. Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it's in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this. 9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time. Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

At 9fin, we've built a dedicated Data Operations team in Belfast to enhance our data processing capabilities. You'll be part of a highly skilled team focused on ensuring high-quality, lightning-fast data is delivered to our platform, enabling our clients to act with speed and confidence. You'll work closely with teams in New York, London, and Belfast across Leveraged Finance, Structured Credit, Private Credit, and Distressed Debt.

Every day brings new challenges, and the team's responsibilities will continue to expand. Providing fast, reliable financial and corporate data across a wide range of financial markets is no small task. Our team uses cutting-edge technology to source, analyze, and publish the most relevant information for our clients. Here's a snapshot of what you might work on:

  • Use our in-house software to extract financial data from a vast range of documents, ensuring accurate, timely updates for companies under 9fin's coverage.
  • Stay ahead of financial reporting for thousands of tracked companies, rapidly identifying key metrics from earnings reports and providing clients with meaningful insights.
  • Use cutting-edge technology to extract and validate financial tables, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and data integrity.
  • Map newly reported figures to existing financials, creating a comprehensive and real-time view of a company's financial position.
  • Build and maintain capital structure tables to support detailed financial analysis.
  • Identify and tag key financial terms, ensuring a consistent and comparable dataset across all financial data on 9fin.
  • Work on exciting new projects, including restructuring, private credit, DBC data, and more, helping to shape the future of financial intelligence.

We're looking for people with a keen eye for detail and an interest in company financials—whether you're a recent graduate, have experience in finance, economics, accountancy, audit, or another analytical role. If you have some or all of the following attributes, we'd love to hear from you:

  • Team player – You thrive in a collaborative environment, supporting those around you to help the whole team succeed.
  • Growth mindset – You're always looking to develop your skills and believe that dedication and hard work lead to improvement.
  • Financial acumen – You have experience working with financial data, or the ability to learn quickly. Familiarity with financial statements or credit analysis is a plus but not essential.
  • Attention to detail – You have strong analytical skills and can spot patterns, inconsistencies, or key insights in company financials.
  • Accuracy under pressure – You can interpret information quickly and construct effective solutions to complex problems, often working to tight deadlines.
  • Challenge the status quo – You're not afraid to suggest better ways of doing things and take an active role in improving processes.
  • Clear communicator – You can express ideas concisely, whether in writing or conversation, ensuring clarity and accuracy in your work.

We're open to candidates from a range of backgrounds – if you're curious, analytical, and enjoy working with financial data, we'd love to hear from you!

We're a scaling start up and we enjoy sharing our success. When the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people. We also offer huge amounts of responsibility, an abundance of opportunity for growth, and a platform to truly excel.
