The impact you’ll make in this role:
As a global platform application engineer within AAD’s FACS team, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Partnering with product developers to define new product requirements and customer needs. Conduct application testing to refine product designs. Lead field testing to generate insights and validate customer acceptance. Build technical launch package for new product introductions and execute training plan for local country hand-off.
- Becoming a subject matter expert that supports other AAD application engineers around the world specific to FACS products
- Supporting new product scouting efforts. Summarize customer insights, escalate market trends to business and R&D functions.
- Partnering with product engineers to conduct hands-on testing for product modification approval and coordinate field trials.
- Partnering with marketing to conduct competitive analysis testing and price-value mapping. Substantiate marketing claims through application testing and subject matter expertise.
Your skills and expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Three (3) years of experience in a technically aligned, customer focused role in a private, public, government or military environment
- Current, valid driver’s license is required
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Ability to design test methods, generate data and make related business recommendations
- Three (3) years of experience in the collision repair industry
- Experience in automotive business or relatable 3M experience
- Good understanding of vehicle assembly and repair processes.
- Excellent computer skills, highly proficient in MS Office Suite and statistical analysis of data using common software packages e.g. Minitab.
- Previous experience serving industrial markets such as collision repair, manufacturing, OEMs
- Hands-on aptitude and comfort conducting physical testing
- Previous experience in new product development, customer insights and commercialization
- Previous experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training and/or technical sales
- Excellent communication & organizational skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
- Ability to efficiently analyze, problem solve and implement solutions
Work location:
- This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic & international

Expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
