Driver Manager

Responsible for managing and directing an assigned group of company drivers and overseeing contractor relations within assigned group, including the follow up on all critical events and safety alerts.

Shift: Works 7 day on,7 day off schedule- 12-hour shift as a normal schedule. 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary point of contact for all drivers as a secondary backup to all service centers; must be accessible by phone, email, text, and mobile communication
  • Books and tracks loads; ensures customer requirements are communicated to appropriate operations personnel
  • Maintains timely communications with customers on status of loads as needed
  • Maintains timely communications with our central customer service.
  • Follow up on all required DOT Physicals, critical events, and all company shipment alerts
  • Ensure accurate driver payroll
  • Updates and maintains software and databases
  • Processes all shipment notes and billing/accessorial charges on orders when applicable.

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalency required
  • 2+ years' experience in the direct management of Drivers
  • Management of Drivers in a bulk transportation is preferred

Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work with interruptions and deadlines
  • Effectively interacts with internal and external customers
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement, and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills; capable of effectively directing and managing drivers
  • Follows established policies and procedures
  • Capacity to follow up on all critical events and safety alerts
  • Knowledge of Federal DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Skills in Microsoft Office products and technology

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Majority of time will be spent at the terminal, in the office and on the yard
  • Works 7 day on,7 day off schedule- 12-hour shift as a normal schedule
  • Weekend work and Holidays, if scheduled, non-business hours availability is required
  • Holidays and vacations will be paid out in lieu of time off
