About the Role

This position is on the Video Edge team, responsible for the ingestion of hundreds of thousands of live video content, as well as the distribution worldwide to millions of viewers. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable systems that enable our customers to ingest and watch live video. If you're excited by the idea of building backend distributed systems that operate at a worldwide scale, and have an interest in live video, this position is for you.

You can work in San Francisco, CA or Seattle WA. You will:

• Work with data analysts, product managers, technical leads, and other engineers to design, develop, launch, and operate distributed systems at scale.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior members of the team.
• Collaborate with both your team and related teams - fostering shared understanding of how to solve common problems and deliver solutions.
• Work backwards from customer problems to drive business impact.

About the Team

Our Video Team is the backbone of Twitch. Twitch processes a massive amount of live video channels and distributes them using the largest dedicated live video CDN in the world, delivering over 25Tbps to more than 5MM concurrent viewers. In addition to serving Twitch traffic, our video platform is offered as Amazon Interactive Video Service, an AWS service that allows the creation of a live video streaming platform with only a few lines of code. Engineers with our Video Team work across a range of areas including ingest, transcoding, and distribution with the lowest latency high-scale HLS distribution system in the world.
