Operations Lead/Supervisor

The operational business unit is the heart of Amazon. An effective operation helps ensure that items are processed and delivered to our customers in a timely manner. As an Operations Lead/Supervisor, you will experience how all the different parts of the operation work together and help ensure smooth operations. You will be the first point of contact for team members during their shift and help them follow the processes introduced by your managers. You will gain practical experience and use analytical systems that contribute to the success of our company.

Key job responsibilities include measuring and monitoring work flows, tracking performance at the location, and providing important shift information to shift/area managers in the operation to ensure operational excellence across shifts. Support and train employees to achieve great performance and oversee their daily tasks. Assist the shift/area manager with projects to improve processes, promote a safe working environment, and increase employee engagement. Collaborate with other departments to find solutions to common problems or meet needs in key performance areas. Use data analysis to find opportunities to optimize safety, quality, and productivity.

A Day in the Life: As an Operations Lead/Supervisor, you will work at one of our operational sites. You will support your shift/area manager in implementing the shift schedule. You will help prepare shift meetings with your team and monitor procedures and processes. This ensures that safety rules, quality assurance processes, and the day's priorities are followed. Problems you notice are escalated to your manager. Occasionally, you will also act as a shift leader and provide your employees with the necessary guidance to complete their tasks. If necessary, you will support your shift/area manager in shift planning and ensure that there are enough team members scheduled during peak times.

About the Team: The Logistics Department at Amazon (AMZL) is responsible for "last-mile logistics" - delivering our packages in partnership with third-party providers. We think creatively and implement initiatives for continuous improvement to deliver millions of physical products to our customers. Our goal is to make the delivery experience as smooth as possible for our customers and to introduce global delivery solutions for our latest offerings, including Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants. These activities are carried out by two groups of employees. Our "internal" employees prepare millions of products for shipment to our delivery teams. Our team is people-oriented and helpful. This is particularly important because many of our employees work night shifts. Our focus is primarily on the operational business. Most of our locations operate around the clock. Our "field" employees work with Amazon Flex - a contractor network for delivery. Every year we set new standards in terms of customer experience and offer new, innovative delivery services. We are looking for new ways to overcome industry-wide logistics challenges and for new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint. A fleet of innovative vehicles (including electric vehicles) and state-of-the-art technology support us in this.
