Operations Manager

Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives for one functional area of our Sort Center (Inbound, Sortation, Outbound). Additional responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Area Managers, Team Leaders coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations, and building leadership bench strength within the Sort Center.

Operations Managers drive the creation of staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Change/Six Sigma initiatives to enable their Functional Area and ultimately the Sort Center to meet and exceed Business Plan. They set/clarify requirements and expectations for Area Managers.

Operations Managers measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Team Leaders/Area Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments. They leverage the Operations and Team Leaders/Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional area.

Operations Managers take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and among the network. They work closely with partner functions to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, as well as providing needed support and resources for other staff initiatives.

Operations Managers are able to address operational and personnel issues affecting the functional area. They surface issues with potential to affect multiple functional areas, along with ideas for solutions, to Sr. Ops, General Manager, and/or HR.

Key job responsibilities include leading and supervising a team of Team Leaders and Process associates and associates in Inbound, Sortation, and outbound operations within the Sort Center. Operations Managers are responsible for the overall safety, quality, and performance and customer experience of the shift. They carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Operations Managers are accountable for meeting and exceeding operational goals, strategic planning and forecasting, appraising performance, resolving problems, and addressing staffing needs.

Operations Managers mentor, train, and develop teammates for career progression and learning. They have the ability to develop and share best practices across the shifts and network.
