The operational business area is the heart of Amazon. This essential part of our company ensures that we efficiently fulfill and ship orders so that our customers receive their items on time. It is supported by operations managers who bring together the team to promote excellent safety, quality, and productivity at all our locations. You will coordinate other managers at your location and create the operational plan that helps your teams achieve their goals. This role is fully focused on supporting operational excellence to create the Amazon of tomorrow.
Key job responsibilities:
- Leading and developing a team of area managers
- Shift leadership of operational teams, handling issues, and promoting site performance
- Analyzing shifts according to company guidelines and implementing measures to improve operational excellence
- Close collaboration with other support teams, including those for HR, finance, occupational health, and safety
- Designing and implementing initiatives at all locations to improve operational performance
A day in the life:
You will take shift leadership at one of our operational sites. You will also act as the main interface between several different teams, including the finance, security, and operational integration teams. This means that you will directly observe the daily operations at your site while also contributing to new innovation opportunities. A typical workday includes meetings with various business areas, in-depth investigations of performance and risk metrics for sites, and forecasts to prepare for different demand volumes. You will also provide daily mentoring and coaching to your team. As a leader, you will support your team members in fully developing their management potential.
