Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (leo). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Kuiper Environmental Engineer will lead critical environmental initiatives for Amazon's Kuiper project, based at either our Redmond or Kirkland, Washington, facility. This role combines technical engineering expertise with strategic program management to enhance Kuiper's environmental performance and regulatory compliance, with a focus on air quality and permitting. As an individual contributor, you will develop and implement environmental management systems, manage compliance programs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with leadership teams, you will integrate environmental engineering solutions and best practices into daily operations while ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Your responsibilities will encompass the technical design and oversight of environmental systems, development of compliance processes, and implementation of sustainable practices.

A day in the life:
Based at either our Redmond or Kirkland, Washington, production facility, you will play a vital role in Amazon Kuiper's environmental compliance programs, specializing in air quality management and permitting while supporting broader environmental compliance. Working under the Kuiper Sr. Environmental Manager, your day typically involves monitoring emissions data, evaluating compliance status, and coordinating with operations teams. You'll develop and maintain air permits, manage environmental programs, and implement monitoring systems. This role requires balancing daily compliance activities with long-term program development while serving as a technical resource for the site, interfacing with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
