Project Kuiper Avionics Engineer

Our goal is to be Earth's most customer centric company, and we are just getting started. We need people who want to join an ambitious program that continues to push the state of the art in space-based systems design. Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for the next member of our avionics development team who are building critical components for Project Kuiper satellites. We are looking for an exceptional engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to deliver hardware.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit design and analysis for satellite power and avionics subsystems.
  • Perform ECAD schematic capture of circuit designs.
  • Lead design reviews of hardware systems; such as architecture, schematic, PCB layout reviews.
  • Develop bring-up test plans, as well as leading qualification and production test plan development.
  • Lead debug efforts for avionics and power subsystems.
  • Lead requirement derivation and traceability for hardware subsystems.
  • Support subsystem production ramp and larger system integration.
  • Be a technical leader/role model; instilling best practices across the full development lifecycle.

A Day In The Life

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be a member of the avionics and power hardware team, focusing on the design and test for the various sensing and control needs (power delivery, propulsion, attitude control, etc.) of the satellite. You will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, from component selection and board design, to layout review, board bring-up, validation, and integration. As an experienced member of the team, you will be responsible for identifying top level requirements and ensuring high quality and innovative designs are pursued. You will work across teams and support other Project Kuiper engineering projects through collaboration, design review and the development of electrical engineering standards.

You will work with a team of top-notch engineers and collaborate with multiple spacecraft design and integration teams. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, we guarantee that you will learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on tens of millions of people!

About The Team

Our team is responsible for delivering production hardware subsystems for power delivery, attitude control, and propulsion control subsystems on the satellite bus. We take ownership and work hard to deliver the highest quality solutions to support the long-term success of Project Kuiper. This team consists of a broad set of technical backgrounds, and we look forward to welcoming people that are excited to help us deliver broadband internet to underserved communities!
