Operations Manager Role
The operational business unit is the heart of Amazon. This essential part of our company ensures that we efficiently fulfill and ship orders so that our customers receive their items on time. It is supported by Operations Managers who bring together the team to promote excellent safety, quality, and productivity at all our locations. You will coordinate other managers at your location and create the operational plan that helps your teams achieve their goals. This role is fully focused on supporting operational excellence to create the Amazon of tomorrow. Key job responsibilities include leading and developing a team of area managers, shift leadership of operational teams, handling issues, and promoting site performance. You will also work closely with other support teams, including those for HR, finance, occupational safety, and security, and design and implement initiatives at all locations to improve operational performance.
A day in the life involves taking over the night shift department management at our Lampertswalde location near Dresden. You will also act as the main interface between several different teams, including the finance, security, and operational integration teams. This means that you will directly observe the daily operations at your location while also contributing to new innovation opportunities. A typical workday includes meetings with various business units, in-depth investigations of performance and risk metrics for sites, and forecasts to prepare for different demand volumes. Additionally, you will provide daily mentoring and coaching to your team. As a leader, you will support your team members in fully developing their management potential.
