We believe that during your time as an intern with Ruger you will have an experience that will grow your resume more than other more recognizable manufacturing companies.
At Ruger you will have the chance to experience:
A Day in the Life of a Ruger Intern:
Engineers experience a wide variety of tasks every day at Ruger, one day is never the same as the next! Our interns work directly with a mentor on one of our manufacturing lines. You will be assigned a "summer project" at the beginning of your internship. This project is intended to give you the opportunity to design and build something that will be implemented into the production line. Progress will be monitored by your mentor and other engineers in design review settings. Portions of this project are to be completed individually as well as with other Ruger employees.
Examples of past intern projects are: inline gages used in production, automatic part marking machine for part traceability in production, automatic oiler used for rust prevention in assembly, tool cost savings for a product line, laser marking station for gages in the facility.
Interns will also spend some days shadowing their mentor in supporting production, attending design reviews, new product development meetings, interacting with outside suppliers, planning product flow and improvements to manufacturing.
You will also have the opportunity to work directly with our production associates to learn how our manufacturing method works in real time. As an intern or engineer we try to cultivate a "Servant Leader" atmosphere as our role is to solve problems and provide solutions to the manufacturing line associates to make their job function smoothly.
Lastly, at the end of your internship, you will have the chance to practice your communication skills by creating a presentation that will be delivered in a group setting to engineering and management.
