HR Manager
Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop. Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

We do this through our collection of mountain resorts, Woodward youth centers, and National Park concessions. To be successful we must have a deep understanding of our guests—what inspires them, motivates them, and brings them back.
Job Summary
Stovepipe has between 35 – 60 employees depending on the season. Seasonal and short-term positions are common to give the seasonality of the property and remote location. The HR Manager is responsible for duties related to recruitment, onboarding, benefits, policies, training and development, culture, total rewards, employee housing, talent management, and OSHA. You will actively cultivate a safe, friendly, and fun work environment where outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship are embraced.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead onboarding, training, development, and performance reviews.
- Manage compliance related matters including OSHA and EEOC.
- Ensure HRIS, LMS and Risk Management Systems are kept up to date with accurate information.
- Payroll and benefits administration including complicated scenarios like tips.
- Investigate and document any employee incidents.
- Use resources appropriately to comply with benefits, compliance, employment requirements, policies, programs, and routine business matters.
- Meet regularly with the GM, leadership team, Corporate HR to discuss department business, statistics, process efficiencies, improvements and to plan events and schedules.
- Host and lead meetings and trainings, to support the company human resources, talent, and culture programs.
- Oversee the employee housing human resources standards, programs, and communications to facilitate and nurture a healthy, comfortable, clean, and fun experience for employees living onsite with wellness programs that help to support these necessities.

Work Location
- Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Housing will be provided on-site.
- Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open every day. You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.
- Ability to lead human services requirements and compliance with our concessions contract.
- Organizational system skills for records and document control.
- Technical skills utilizing cloud-based databases, programs, such as HRIS, LMS, etc.
- Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, Park Service and the public.
- Use good professional judgment, honesty, and integrity in decision making.
- Interact with the public and stakeholders in a professional manner and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. for various office supplies, equipment, arranging furniture for meetings, etc.
- Conducts workplace training and development content.
- Minimum two years working in HR management position, and hospitality preferred.
- High school diploma and four-year college degree required.
