What does the role entail? This position will play a crucial role within the Networking Team. This position will be tasked to help design, maintain, and support Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Wireless LAN (WLAN) networks for both voice and data applications. Monitors and administers the data network systems; Communicates networking issues to other employees and management; Installs and configures network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues; Implements, maintains, and monitors information security standards specific to the network infrastructure; Problem-solving and critical thinking; Attention to detail; Clear written and verbal communication skills; Excellent time management; On-call rotation; Creating technology roadmaps – solution rationalization; Tracking time spent on work tickets and projects; Coordinate with vendors and telecommunications service providers.

Minimum qualifications and working conditions include: Education: Licenses or certificates preferred: CCNA/JNCIA, CCNP Switch 350-401/JNCIP-ENT, ITIL Foundations - IT Service Management, PCNSE - Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer, Juniper, Valid Colorado Driver's License; Required experience: 2 years of Network Engineering/Administrator experience; An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Preferred experience includes Palo Alto/Cisco/Juniper Mist, Network Technical Documentation and Topology, Flexibility to work within multiple network environments with different topologies, Running multiple projects simultaneously, Change Management Processes, Windows Network OS, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP, Network management analysis tools; Knowledge: Working knowledge of Microsoft network operating systems; Domain Name Services, DHCP; Principals of systems analysis and design; VOIP, switches, and router configuration including MPLS, BGP, and VLAN; Network monitoring and analysis tools, network management, firewall, IPS technologies, and VPN's. Understanding of web-based applications; Abilities: Strong communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel, relevant stakeholders, and management; Strong creative thinking, problem solving, planning, time-management, and organization skills to balance and prioritize work; Strong interpersonal skills and a propensity to develop and mentor employees; Strong ability to manage multiple programs, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and switch between assignments quickly; Strong ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks; Strong ability to lead and work in a team environment; Strong ability to manage by influence; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, users, computer industry representatives, and citizens; Communicate effectively orally and in writing with technical and non-technical personnel; Work effectively both independently and in a team environment; Assess customer needs and apply technical and security knowledge to develop solutions; Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Working conditions: Physical demands: Light physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds, including lifting 10 pounds overhead. Occasional carrying, walking, and standing. Vision to analyze data and read/interpret reports, documents, and other written information. Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard. Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens. Capable of driving between city supported buildings and to meetings in the Denver metro area as needed; Work environment: Normally works in a clean, comfortable environment. System support issues may require working outside the office environment and in or around emergency response vehicles. Requires rotational staff escalation support outside normal business hours; Equipment used: Standard business and professional tools and equipment including computers, laptop computers, and mobile computing devices.
