Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Performs custodial duties for City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center (CAPSTC)

  • General cleaning/sanitizing, including restrooms, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the floors.
  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers
  • Cleans classrooms, staircases, walls, glass doors, and windows.
  • Cleans immediate area around building.
  • Clean and sanitize Fitness Center and Locker rooms.
  • Plan, organize and implement a cleaning plan for the building.
  • Effectively manage the resources and equipment the job will require.
  • Establish a daily and weekly routine for the building.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered

Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: At least six months custodial experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered

Knowledge: Knowledge of building janitorial and maintenance practices

Skills: Skill in operating basic maintenance equipment, Strong customer service skills, Detail oriented

Abilities: Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use and operate common custodial supplies/tool. Essential Personnel: When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all city of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel

Physical Demands: Moderate physical work requiring ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Considerable walking and standing; frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and climbing hand/eye Coordination for operation for cleaning equipment. Clear vision to read operating manuals and instructions. Hearing/listening for instructions and warning signals

Work Environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment in a recreation facility; may require outdoor work with exposure to dust, odors and noise

Equipment Used: Operates hand tools and equipment common to custodial work
