Role Overview

As a Software Engineer III, you will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of new features for the Accolade Communication Domain, as well as the maintenance of the current code base. The Communication Domain consists of messaging and telephony platforms that play a crucial role in facilitating seamless communication between our health assistants and members. You will also have the opportunity to develop other essential services, such as an appointment scheduling system and virtual assistant integrations to support our contact center needs. Working closely with internal stakeholders, product managers, and the team, you will leverage AWS cloud technologies to translate requirements into efficient and innovative software solutions.

A Day in the Life…

• Understand business requirements and the scope of enhancements.
• Effectively design, architect, and plan the delivery of the proposed enhancements and maintenance using serverless architecture leveraging AWS Lambda functions written in Python and dockerized containers written in Java Spring Boot.
• Responsible for meeting expectations and deliverables on time with high quality.
• Apply strong creative, technical, and analytical skills to problem-solving and solution development.
• Conduct code reviews and quality assessments, providing constructive feedback to maintain coding standards and best practices.
• Support business priorities through ad-hoc assignments and tasks as needed.
• Contribute to occasional front-end development efforts using React.
• Integrate AI-powered chatbots to enhance communication capabilities and improve user engagement within the communication domain.

What We Are Looking For…

• Solid experience in architecting, designing, and developing scalable microservice solutions
• High proficiency in at least one OOP language such as Python/Java. Willingness to work in both languages
• Previous hands-on working experience with AWS serverless stack, specifically:
• Lambda
• DynamoDB
• SNS & SQS
• Experience with other Amazon services, such as: ECS, Amazon Connect, Bedrock or OpenSearch, is a plus
• Some degree of FE experience (JS, React) and willingness to occasionally work on FE is advantageous
• Experience and/or willingness to work in a highly agile, collaborative, innovative, flexible environment embracing modern DevOps culture
• Motivated, detail-oriented, quick learner who is not afraid to step outside of their comfort zone and can grasp complex challenges
• Respectful collaborator and team player
